In this installation the visitor should not be satisfied with just looking at photographs on the wall, if he really intends to penetrate into the heart of the forest. He must physically invest the place and make his way behind the exhibition walls to reach a revisited “Maloca”.
The Maloca is a community house used by the Amerindian tribes of the Amazon. A place for meetings and shamanic rituals, the Maloca plays an important role in the construction of the indigenous cosmovision, which consists of not placing oneself above other living species.
The spectator’s body is superfluous, reduced to the state of a ghost, absorbed in the Amazon jungle. The room is covered with mirrors but the visitor cannot see his reflection, inviting him to reconsider his anthropocentric gaze.
